Tim Warr ACA - Partner

Tim formed Warr & Co Chartered Accountants in 1994 and is currently our senior director. He specialises in freelance contractors, consultants and owner managed businesses. He is also responsible for complex tax investigations and acts as expert witness on various matters. Tim’s day to day role includes advising clients on business and tax planning matters and meeting with clients in our London, Manchester and Stockport offices.

  • Tim qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) in 1979.
  • Tim worked as the director of several accountancy firms between 1982 and 1993, establishing Warr & Co in 1994 with Suresh Dhokia.
  • His interests include theatre and reading, and he takes a keen interest in politics and macroeconomic policy.

Peter Edwards ACA - Partner

Pete joined Warr & Co in 2007 and became a director soon after. He specialises in owner managed businesses and heads up our flat management team and pharmacy locum department. Pete’s day to day role includes advising clients on all aspects of tax planning matters, marketing and meeting with clients in our London, Manchester and Stockport offices.

  • Pete started his accountancy career back in 1993, obtaining a solid grounding in accountancy at a South Manchester practice.
  • He qualified in 2004 with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and more recently has also become a member of ICAEW (ACA).
  • His interests include badminton, cycling, skiing and running.

Nicola Joyce ACA, FCCA - Partner

Nicola started her career in 1990 at a medium sized Manchester practice where she qualified as ACCA. She joined Usher Spiby in 1996, becoming a director in 2003. She has worked with the Warr & Co team since the two companies merged in 2016.

Her day to day work involves advising a varied portfolio of owner managed businesses on all aspects of accounting, taxation and business advice. Nicola specialises in audit, charities and not for profit organisations, alongside being our Audit Compliance Partner.

  • Nicola qualified in 1996.
  • Nicola is a Charity Trustee with a particular interest in animal welfare charities.
  • Her interests involve spending quality time with her family, walking her dogs and socialising. She also enjoys reading, listening to music, cycling and keeping fit.

Robert Benson-May ACA - Partner

Rob joined Warr & Co in 2020, and became a director shortly after. Rob specialises in tech & e-commerce businesses, having previous experience at one of the UK’s fastest growing and largest e-commerce companies, along with running his own e-commerce business. His day to day role includes advising a wide variety of businesses, from small owner managed businesses, to large retailers with turnover in excess of £100m.

  • Rob qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) at a medium sized accountancy practice in Manchester, before joining Warr & Co
  • Rob comes from a family of accountants, with his father running a practice based in Northwich, and his brother at a top 5 firm
  • He enjoys football & futsal, having previously played at the top tier of futsal in the UK

Suresh Dhokia ACA - Consultant

Suresh was a founding director of Warr & Co back in 1994. Having taken time off to work in industry, Suresh returned in 2010. He specialises in freelance contractors and owner managed businesses having a particular emphasis on business valuations, acquisitions and disposals, forecasting and cashflow management. Suresh takes responsibility for the independent pharmacy accounts team and the marketing and development of the practice.

  • Suresh qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) in 1986.
  • He gained his experience with Ernst & Young, then enjoyed both Financial Controller and Financial Director roles within industry.
  • His interests include travelling, football and investing.

David Lever FCA - Consultant

David has been a director since 1992 and has been advising businesses and personal tax clients for over 30 years on a wide range of accountancy and taxation issues.

In this time he has acquired a formidable range of expertise and knowledge which allows him to offer practical advice to both individuals and businesses. He has a significant and varied business client base from sole traders to the larger owner managed businesses and is experienced in dealing with the tax affairs of family companies and their directors.

David also advises clients on IT related matters, including choosing and setting up cloud accounting systems to meet the demands of ‘Making Tax Digital’ (MTD).

  • David qualified in 1982.
  • He is the father of two adult children and a grandfather; family life ensures he is kept busy at weekends.
  • David enjoys travelling, and is planning his next trip to Disney, “where the magic never stops”. He lists his top three cities as New York, Barcelona and San Francisco.

Philip M Seligman BFP, FCA - Consultant

Philip qualified as a chartered accountant with a national firm of Chartered Accountants in 1980, and then spent three years in industry after qualifying, before re-joining the life in practice. After qualifying as a chartered tax adviser in 1986, he subsequently moved to an international firm of accountants to specialise in tax.

Prior to co-founding Seligman Percy in 1998 he was the tax partner of the Manchester office of a national firm of accountants. He is now a consultant with Warr & Co following the merger of the two practices in 2021.  Philip advises on all accounting and tax matters, including VAT, personal tax and estate planning, and business start-up advice.

While there are many accountants in Stockport, Warr & Co is one of the longest established, tracing its roots back to 1982. Our team of accountants have always specialised in providing accounting services for small businesses, though today we also offer a full range of business accounting services and services for individuals too. The head office location in Stockport provides an easy-access solution for those travelling by car or train; we offer free parking and we’re just a short walk away from the train station.
