A new helpline has been set up by HMRC for those businesses, including self employed people, who are concerned about their ability to pay tax due to the pandemic.
Up to 2,000 experienced call handlers are ready to help businesses and individuals navigate this difficult time. Anyone unable to pay due to coronavirus will have the following options discussed with them:
- Agreement of an instalment arrangement
- Suspension of debt collection proceedings
- Cancellation of penalties and interest where you have had administrative difficulties contacting or paying HMRC immediately
If you run a business or are self-employed and are concerned about paying your tax due to coronavirus, you can call HMRC’s helpline for help and advice: 0800 024 1222.
The helpline is open Mon-Fri 8am-4pm excluding bank holidays.
